The Oak Street Community Center exists to provide the residents of Camp Hill, AL with the opportunity to co-create resilient and life-affirming community with one another through mutual aid programs and public meeting space.

We are a secular program of First Universalist Church of Camp Hill and the Alabama Center for Rural Organizing and Systemic Solutions (ACROSS). While the Church has access to Center spaces and facilities, no funds given to the Center will be used for religious purposes or programming.

gender identity, or gender expression; sexual orientation, reproductive, or relationship status; or political or other religious affiliation.

Our Service Area

Our neighbors qualify to participate in the programs offered by Oak Street Community Center if (a) their primary residence is within a mile and a half of the corporate limits of the Town of Camp Hill OR they are active members of First Universalist Church, and (b) they meet program-specific eligibility requirements.

Upon the recommendation of the Executive Director, the Board of Trustees may waive residency/membership requirements for individuals who reside within the 36850 postal code and who meet one of the following criteria:
  1. Have a strong tie to Camp Hill (e.g., family, employment).
  2. Volunteer with ACROSS.
  3. Have a history of service to the community.
  4. Have no reasonable access to similar programs.

Oak Street Community Center is a community-based mutual aid program of ​First Universalist Church ​and the Alabama Center for Rural Organizing and Systemic Solutions​. Donations made to First Universalist marked for the Oak Street Community Center go exclusively to Community Center operating costs.
